Madison Update – 7 April
Commercial in confidence
As I mentioned in our last update, today Jaime, Kerry, Dave and I presented to one of the final three bidders. We (virtually) met with the CEO, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. We were asked to present an overview of Madison “in our words”, where we see opportunity, challenges and our views of the future.
During this time, we discussed the various iterations of Madison since 2017 (the year I joined) and what our community has faced into over the course of the proceeding three years. Suffice to say, there was a great deal to cover! The questions from their leadership team where focussed on our governance and operational model, the community (who we let in, how & why) and the future of AFSLs post a Royal Commission.
It was a good discussion and I think they have a greater sense of the culture and requirements of the Madison community (advisers and team). I’m sure the Adviser Panel will continue the open discussion when they meet with the group tomorrow. John, Alex, Phil, Paul & Megan, best of luck with the conversation.
One question we were asked is “what are we most proud of?”; below are some of our responses –
- Committed advice community
- Resilient and positive team
- Transparent and authentic communication
- The advisers who recently joined us, put their faith in us despite the uncertainty
- Our united approach
- Industry and peer support since this process began
- The level of interest in Madison (who we’ve attracted) during this sale program
These are challenging times, but they don’t define us. We are defined by how we face into the difficult times, and the attitude with which we do so. “Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.” C.S. Lewis. I believe our destiny is extraordinary because of the culture and leadership within our community.
