A note from Annick

This week I received an SMS from Troy Scott sharing a thank you email to Kerry Thomas, from one of his clients. It’s a story worth hearing, and the next time you see Troy, perhaps he’ll share it. In this email, there was a sentence which really struck my heart.
‘A person’s integrity, reputation and their legacy is one of the most important aspects of someone’s life’
I’m guessing you can imagine this was a very emotional and moving email (it was). When the days get challenging, or we get frustrated by the volume of paperwork and administration, these words serve as a reminder that what we all do makes a significant difference to the lives of our clients. For us, it’s advisers in our community. For you, your clients. Troy needs our help (well, specifically KT’s), and the (new) client needs his. Between the two of them, they’ve reset the course of this family’s life and livelihood. And believe me, there has been an extraordinary amount of paperwork. However, does it matter when you read an email which moves you so much, you realise you’re fulfilling your purpose in life? I’ll leave you to answer this question in a way which best suits you. When I asked KT how she felt, she responded, “every day I do the best I can to help our advisers protect their clients”. Enough said.
A few days ago, we sent an email asking you to participate in the CoreData Licensee Survey. You may have also received a similar email from your Adviser Council representative. This is the first year we’ve elected to participate. We’re coming up to the first anniversary of the Madison sale to Clime, and we want to use the survey as a marker of a year that was; the results and analysis will help shape our priorities, capital investment and licensee services to assist your business. This survey, overlayed with your Business Dashboard, will allow us to dig into common themes, issues, and opportunities uniquely to your practice. Data is important. It quantifies a point in time. Analysis is invaluable, it extends your data into actionable insights. If you haven’t seen the survey, contact Adviser Services , check your junk mail, or reach out to your Council member. To receive meaningful information, we require a minimum of 35 responses. We would appreciate your input. The survey closes on 30 April.
There are several events and workshops coming up. Please check Workplace for the Power BI Business Dashboard seminars facilitated by Megan Thompson and the Compliance workshops facilitated by our Advice Coaches. Our thanks to the Queensland community for welcoming Nina Bailey, our newest team member, and Advice Coach. She’s enjoying getting to know our community.
Each month, Andrea publishes a Research update on Workplace, with details of her upcoming fund manager research visits, and the outcomes of previous meetings. This is an idea which originated from a conversation with Craig Muchamore, and it continues evolve as we increase our internal research activity.
Next month, Ronni Chalmers, Adrian Ezquerro and some of our other Portfolio Managers will be attending the Macquarie Australia Conference. In its 23rd year, the conference is the largest collection of Australian companies and comprising of over 100 company presentations from senior management representing various sectors of the ASX. The program includes guest speakers who will focus on a different thematic each day including, ESG/Energy Transition, Health, Technology/ Digitization. I’ve asked Ronni to record an interview with us to share his observations and expert analysis. The list of companies and agenda is included in this newsletter. If there’s a company of particular interest to you, let Andrea know.
Wrapping up with another pearl of wisdom from Troy’s client. ‘A fish that swims upstream, when all others are swimming downstream is the type (of person) that makes changes in the world, for the better’. I hope I get the pleasure of meeting this client one day. I’d like to shake his hand and thank him for the indelible mark he left on our team.
Sincerely,
Annick
