Madison Virtual Express Experts – APRA Sustainability Measures
In December 2019, APRA informed all life insurers of changes required to product design and practices to improve Individual Disability Income Insurance (IDII) sustainability. All insurers must comply with these changes effective 1 October 2021. With this looming deadline we have decided to run a virtual express experts session with all insurers as a way to quickly educate our Advisers and help them digest the changes when it comes to new IP products.
Over two days we will be running ‘speed dating’ sessions of 20min with each insurer. The sessions will cover IP product overview, including timeframes around new application process and process for alterations for existing policies along with question time.

APRA’s measures aim to address issues in product design that contravene the principle of indemnity or contribute to heightened risk. These measures impose changes to income at risk and annual earnings at claim time, income replacement ratios, and benefit periods.

Design and Distribution Obligations Webinar series
The Design and Distribution Obligations were explained during our recent Good Governance Summit. As we draw closer to the start date (5th October), the Advice & Governance team will conduct fortnightly webinars to explore what the impacts are for advisers and what obligations you will need to be mindful of.
